CIGRE by Numbers

CIGRE Australia membership continues to grow as does our technical contribution to regional as well as global working groups, study committees and task forces.   This article presents a short summary of our membership and some general statistics.

  1. Members

CIGRE Australia is currently ranked 8th globally (from 62 National Committees) in terms of numbers of members.

As can be seen from below, NSW has the most members, with Qld by far having the greatest number of student members.

  2. Technical Representation

Each of our panel convenors has a place on the respective CIGRE global Study Committee.  Australia is one of the few National Committees to have a representative on each of the 16 Study Committees and this enables us to maintain international involvement and to keep abreast of what is happening in each area on a global basis.

Australia’s leadership position is greatly enhanced by CIGRE Australia representatives who convene international Working Groups on topics of significant regional and international interest. These members are considered leaders in their field with the task of addressing industry issues and defining international best practice.  We currenlty sponsor 10 Convenors of international working groups and Australia have over 140 experts participating in these global working groups.

CIGRE Australia is ranked 7th among all national committees for leadership of international Working Groups.

  3. Conferences

Over the last few years, we have seen quite a deal of interest in the various conferences and events we have held.
    During 2017 :
