Women In Energy

Women In Energy

Women in Energy Australia was launched in 2020, to help address the lack of gender diversity in CIGRE Australia. The group is part of the larger global CIGRE Women in Engineering forum.

Australian power systems are undergoing unprecedented changes. It’s clear that there is no better time to promote diversity in the engineering industry in order to address the many associated technical challenges.

ABOUT US

Like the broader engineering sector in Australia women remain significantly under-represented. Today within CIGRE Australia:

  • Only 5.2% of CIGRE Australia’s individual memberships identify as female.
  • Two women are currently convening one of the 16 Australian Panels representing 12.5% of our Panel leadership.
  • Three out of ten (30%) of the Directors on the CIGRE Australia Board are women

Women in Energy Australia forms part of the global CIGRE Women in Engineering forum, connecting Australian members to an international community committed to inclusion and professional excellence.

Working closely with CIGRE Australia and the NGN Australia Committee, we create opportunities for mentorship, leadership development, and professional visibility.

VISION

Women in Energy Australia (WiEA) is the leading platform for promoting inclusion in the power industry. We form the future of CIGRE, which accurately reflects the diversity of the society it serves and empowers the next generation to change the world.

MISSION

Women in Energy Australia supports women and other minorities by providing links to global thought leaders and role models, as well as demonstrating the influence of female and other diverse professionals.

Women in Energy Australia is open to students and professionals of all ages and at all stages in their careers.
