CIGRE Australia is proud to release the 2025 Annual Report, showcasing a year of strong growth, global collaboration, and continued leadership in advancing power system expertise across Australia and beyond.
A Year of Growth and Strength
In 2025, CIGRE Australia achieved record membership growth of 21.4%, bringing our total membership to 606. This growth has reinforced our position as the third-largest National Committee globally. Growth occurred across every category, with student membership more than doubling, reflecting our focus on engaging and nurturing the next generation of energy professionals.
Delivering on Our Strategic Vision
The year saw further progress under our Strategic Plan, which focuses on three key pillars:
- Growing our membership: Expanding value and engagement for all members.
- Advancing the energy transition: Developing and sharing technical solutions, strengthening collaboration across industry and global partners, and addressing key power system challenges through cross-panel expertise.
- Attracting and developing the workforce of the future: Hosting more events and programs, as well as collaborating with allied organisations to strengthen professional capability.
CIGRE Australia also continued to align with the CIGRE 2030 Global Strategy, ensuring our national efforts contribute meaningfully to global progress in power system development and resilience.
Highlights from 2025
The Power Electronics and Power System Integration Seminar in Sydney attracted over 140 attendees, featuring 37 technical papers and international perspectives. Impressively, 98.6% of delegates rated the event as ‘good’, ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’.
The Next Generation Network (NGN) saw remarkable success, hosting seven webinars and two networking events, and achieving a 200% increase in student membership. Female representation within the NGN also rose to 30%, reflecting our commitment to diversity and inclusion.
The Women in Energy initiative, led by newly appointed representative Felicity Galluzzo, established a baseline for gender participation, with women now representing 13.5% of individual members and 40% of the Board.
CIGRE Australia’s presence at the 2024 Paris Session was significant, with 112 Australian delegates participating and 10 members receiving international recognition.
