In The Loop Edition 44

Dear Colleague,

This edition of In the Loop is a special report on the CIGRE Paris Session 2026.

The Session brought together the global power system community in Paris from 23–28 August, with more than 5,500 delegates, 1,400 papers and participants representing more than 90 countries.

Over 140 Australians attended the Paris Session this year, with 59 papers provided by Australian authors. Our impact on the world stage remains high, with international recognition impressive as evidenced by the receipt of four Technical Council awards, nine Distinguished Member awards and a Next Generation Network Significant Contribution Award.

The heart of this edition is a report on the Paris Session prepared by CIGRE Australia Chairman Rainer Korte. The report identifies the key takeaways of the Session from an Australian perspective and is essential reading for everybody in the power sector in Australia.

I trust you find this edition thought provoking.

Best regards
